ABSTRACT
Application of en 1991-1-4 to calculate the wind loads to buildings in Vietnam (pp. 4-12)
MEng. Nguyen Manh Cuong
Nowadays, with trend of international integration, the European standards system has been widely used not only within the European Community members but also be adopted by several countries on the world including Viet Nam. Especially in 2006, the Ministry of Construction has issued Standard TCXDVN 375:2006 "Design of structures for earthquake resistance" been compiled on the basis of accepted EN 1998 supplement to replace with specific characteristics of the Vietnam. Therefore, to ensure consistency when designing structures include earthquake loads by TCXDVN 375:2006, impact the wind loads should also calculate corresponding standard EN 1991-1-4. This paper presents the calculation process and main points have to attention when applying EN 1991-1-4 to calculate the wind loads effects to buildings construction in Vietnam.
Study of wind effect on low rise building by wind tunnel test (pp.13-18)
A/Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vo Thong, MEng. Nguyen Hoai Nam
Votex damages to covering structures of low-rise buildings especially roof structures (soft roofing buildings) that’s why engineering solutions need to be carried out to minimize these damages to the buildings. in order to find out the most effective solution to minimize the damage we have to understand how the wind effect on the buildings and the best way is the experiment of similar model in wind tunnels. the model experiment is made to definite the location of the building where is the most damage by the wind then architectural design and solution are made together to decrease the damages to the building caused by the wind.
The nolinear behaviour of 2d reinforced concrete (rc) frames with brick infill (pp.19-24)
MEng. Dinh Le Khanh Quoc, A/Prof. Dr. Bui Cong Thanh, A/Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Yen
This paper presents the nonlinear behaviour of infilled rc frames by the finite element modeling using the “gap element” as well as the comparisons of the obtained results with those of published studies.
Assessment of target displacement of high-rise building by non-linear static procedures (pp.25-31)
Eng. Tran Thanh Tuan, Dr. Nguyen Hong An, Eng. Nguyen Khanh Hung
One of critical tasks of nonlinear static procedures is to predict the target displacement of inelastic multi-degree-of-freedom structures due to a ground motion. Several approaches were proposed to estimate the target displacement by using an equivalent single-degree-of-freedom system. This paper estimates the accuracy and bias of Modal Pushover Analysis procedure based on the Capacity Spectrum Method (MPA-CSM) when it is applied for single-bay steel frames of 3-, 6-, 9-, 12-, 15- and 18-storey buildings. Each frame was analyzed by two set of ground motions having 2% and 10% probability of being exceeded in 50 years. The MPA-CSM estimates are compared to results from the Standard Pushover Analysis (SPA), the Modal Pushover Analysis (MPA) and Nonlinear Response History Analysis (NL-RHA).
Overview of the role of technology and energy-saving equipment for construction (pp.32-34)
MEng. Nguyen Son Lam, Dr. Vu Thi Ngoc Van
Recent research shows that buildings are the energy consumers and account for 40% world energy use. In order to meet the requirements on energy savings and energy efficiency use, it should have technical solutions in which energy saving equipments play very important role.
This paper specifies the roles of energy saving technology and equipment to the buildings aiming to energy efficiency use as well as presents actual state and trend of energy saving technology, equipment market in present and the future.
Heat-resistant cover structure in climate conditions of Vietnam: Theory and application (pp.35-38)
Dr. Nguyen Duc Toan
In hot and humit climate conditions, intense solar radiation powerful solution obscured selested heat-resitant structure with high thermal stability theory based on thermal vibrations and thermal stability as present in Vietnam is not really reasonable. Research is needed soluti
on chosen cladding against heat based on the theoretical basis in accordance with temperature variation law practice in the structure when subjected to strong impact of the increasing then decreasing the intensity of solar radiation.
Criteria for durability evaluation of tile adhesive in climate of Vietnam (pp.39-44)
Dr. Hoang Minh Duc, MEng. Le Phuong Ly
Durability in specific climate condition of the tile adhesive is an important technical criteria make out the quality of the tiling system, especially outdoor. In European countries, durability in cool weather (represented by adhesion in freeze-thaw tests) has been studied and defined in the technical standards for the tile adhesive. However, in our country, the strength after weathering cycles of the tile adhesive has not been studied and defined in the current standard. This article introduces the results of the research about the method and targets to evaluate the durability of tile adhesives in the climate of Vietnam. The research showes that tile adhesives, which ensure durability requirements, is able to make.

Dr. Nguyen Quang Hiep
This paper presents the current state of concrete technology applications in the construction of infrastructure in vietnam and the existing problems to be solved.
Some issues to be considered in the design and construction waterproofing for buildings (pp.52-56)
Eng. Trieu Luu Long Vu, Dr. Nguyen Tien Binh
This article presents some of the reasons that cause infiltration in high-rise building and proposes a number of rules that need to be followed in the process of design, execution and maintenance high-rise buildings to ensure waterproof capabilities.
