Hurricanes, typhoons and tornados in Vietnam (pp.3- 6) A/Prof. Dr.Nguyen
Xuan Chinh, Dr.nguyen dai minh In this paper, the authors
present a general situation of Hurricanes, typhoons and tornados in Vietnam,
the influence of hurricanes on houses and building constructions. In addition,
the authors also point out the basic principles that should be applied in
planning, designing and constructing dwelling houses of the people living in
the hurricane-prone areas. Some matters relating to calculating and designing the
envelope of reactors of nuclear power plants (pp.7- 14) Dr. Nguyen
Vo Thong The envelope of reactors of nuclear power plants
is a special structures. The calculation and design of this structure have to
be done with particular requirements different from that required by other
ordinary structures.
In this paper, the author present some matters relating to design principles,
loads and action and the structural solutions common used for design of the
envelope of reactors of nuclear power plants is a special structures. Calculation of seismic actions according to response
spectrum method by using the common structural analyzing softwares (pp.15- 17) Dr.nguyen
Hong Ha, Dr.nguyen anh tuan This paper introduces to
the readers the way to apply the analyzing abilities according to the response
spectrum to the analysis and design of earthquake – resistant building structures
by using the available common structural analyzing softwares. To make this
clear, in the paper, the authors present the calculation of seismic actions by
the response spectrum method and the application of common structural analyzing
softwares to the analysis of seismic actions according to the response spectrum
method to the readers. Analysis of steel frames with non-linear semi-rigid
connections (pp.18- 26) MEng. nguyen quoc hung, A/Prof. Dr.Nguyen tien chuong In many cases, the
beam-to-column joint of steel frames is not completely rigid or hinged as
usually modeled in structural analysis. In these cases, the relationship
between moment and the rotation is in conformity with a non-linear rule and the
rigidity of the joint varies according to the acting process due to the load.
This paper presents an analysis of steel frames with non-linear semi-rigid
connections, applying the principle of virtual work and the moment-rotation
curves model declared by Frye-Morris with constants regulated by Dhillon and
O’Malley.
A calculation program was also established to apply to a case study. The
calculated results show that the non-linear semi-rigid joints have a
significant influence on the behaviour of the steel frames. An investigation prestress loss of prestressed
concrete structures due to creep and shrinkage(pp.27- 30) MEng. hoang quang nhu The time-dependent losses of concrete creep and
shrinkage are all of significant importance in prestressed concrete structures.
The most accurate way of determining the time-dependent prestressed loss is by
testing or by using results obtained from measurements on similar local
concretes. This paper presents the exprimental program conducted by author at
the IBST. The results from measurement are compared to that of theoretical
methods. Calculation of dynamic response of shallow shells
having non-linear elastic supports (pp.31- 38)
MEng. nguyen Duc Thang, Prof. Dr.
Sc. Nguyen Van Hoi This paper presents the research results on the
dynamic response of shallow shells that have non-linear elastic supports using
the finite element method. There were built the equations, algorithms and
program to calculate the dynamic displacements and inner forces of shells.
These parameters were calculated in case of short-time dynamic load acting on
shell. These results are compared to that obtained for corresponding shallow
shells having linear elastic supports and shown that the impact of the
non-linear elasticity of supports on the behaviour of the shell structures is
significant. Calculation of loads due to earthquakes for
multi-story building frames with irregular rigidity (pp.39- 45) MEng. Nguyen
Hai Quang Up to now present the
calculation ofoscillation of muilti-story building frames with regular rigidity
has been dealt with by many authors. However, there are very few authors paying
attention to the oscillation of muilti-story building frames with irregular
rigidity. In fact, due to the architectual requirements, many muilti-story
building frames with irregular rigidity are present. In this paper, the author
presents a calculation of oscillation multi-story building frames with
irregular rigidity and illustrate the calculation methods with some specific
calculation examples. Economical effectiveness of piled-raft foundation
(pp.46- 51) MEng. Tran
Quang Ho, Eng. Nguyen Trong
nghia, Eng. Nguyen Dang Dinh
Chung Piled-raft foundation is a
system of pile, raft and soil. Pile reduces settlement and withstands most of
vertical loads acting on a building. Raft reduces differential settlement,
takes horizontal loads and especially a part of vertical loads (maybe over 30%
total load). The interaction among pile, raft, and soil is considered in the
analysis of the system. In this report, Poulos’ researches as well as recent
researches are applied to solve the problem of piled-raft foundation. The
successful analysis gains considerable economical effectiveness Technology of straight threaded rebar splicewith
upsetting end (pp.52- 56) Eng. Le
Quang At present in Vietnam,
there are two ways to connect steel bars for construction: by binding with
small steel wire or by welding. There are many shortcomings of these methods:
binded or welded steel bars do not work centrically, the connections are not
firm and easy to be displaced during concreting,..
In this paper, the author introduces an advanced technology for connecting
steel bars for construction: splicing straigt threaded rebars with upsetting
end. Content of the paper is extracted from the result of the research theme
“Straight threaded rebar splice with upsetting end – Execution and Acceptance”
done by the Center of Construction Technology, Institute for Building Science
and Technology (IBST).
